Rebuilding my equal length big block shafts on my nova with new CVs

At first I thought the CV was knackered but on closer inspection the movement is mainly on the splines.

Is this common? Manufacturing fault or worn down? They're Chris Astley ones back from the days when he used to fulfill orders and post things out.

If I'm to replace whose are best? LMF?

They may have buckled slightly, this started happening to my Carlton 2-piece propshaft splines where they meet - those hard launching on slicks were to blame I am sure!

David Dixon and LMF don't have them in stock so I can't replace them for Tuesday.

Any suggestions? Can I tighten the splines up anyhow, either permanent or temporary?

Half tempted to weld the CVs onto the shafts...

No you cant, welding them into the cv is a really bad idea too. If they are loose they are not going to be dead straight, welding them in at even the smallest angle means at best vibration and at worst killing everything in that area lol

I've discovered Loctite 660 which looks like it might be a suitable temporary fix until I can sort some new shafts out.

As I said about mine dude, it's a combination of cv and shaft, both get worn from the abuse, think logically, if you stiffen everything and make everything solid the force find the weakest link to let the power out.. My cvs were shot, and I'd twisted the end of drive shaft, OK It was better then it snapping, but it gave extra play and meant more movement etc. You sure lmf don't have them? I thought they did?..

LMF only have an equal length shaft in stock, not a short one. I won't be able to source new shafts before Tuesday so I'll have to bodge them up and sort it out after.

I've refitted the CVs on my current shafts on a spare big block Cav/Astra shaft I have kicking about and they fit perfectly, so yes I'm sure it's just the shafts and not the CVs.
