I've got a custom ages one. Do you mean you don't want one that welds to the turrets? My one does weld to the turrets.

Why would you not tie it to the turrets ? If this really is what you want to do just don't weld that section in it comes in kit form so just don't add them bars

Yeah just don't add the triangulations, the weld-in ones just come as a pile of bars to be fully welded in as far as I know anyway?

Edit: Just re-read you're doing forest rallying thanks to Paul's response below so my advice was pants lol

Tornado Motorsport near Derby will build a full MSA compliant cage and install for a very reasonable sum.

Some photos of my Astra Mk2 that Dave did back in June.

Assuming its allowable within the bluebook and still good practice, Dave will built it as you want. Just be aware that if you modify the 6 point cage already fitted then you will likely invalidate its certification for MSA events anyway.

cheers for the help boys and paul your cage looks good i like the rear turret pick ups.

yip thats what i thought about the 6 pointer so fancy going to a 16 point one.

i mean where the cage come up to the between the turrets and the inner wing panel like the old pilbeam ones and what custom cages pic looks like and direct on to the turrets like craigs xe build.

Mine does have the front triangulation to the strut tops and diagonally to the cage foot as well.

Is there a particular reason for you not doing it? My view is that it helps transfer suspension loads into another strong structure (ie the rollcage) and therefore makes the shell more rigid, and allows the suspension to do its job properly.

Didnt see you were up in Scotland so yes Derby is a fair way but he does a good job. This is my 2nd shell thats gone there and friends have taken theirs there too.

im explaining it poorly. i look after a tarmac nova gsi with a original pilbeam/factory cage and it sits next to the turrets like this
http://www.safetydevices.com/i/rollcages/4046.1319812085.jpg

and wanting it to be triangulated to the turrets like this http://uploads.turbosport.co.uk/getrempic3.php?url=http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll66/hillclimbescort/014.jpg
