ive got an spi tank here.
i removed the spi pump, and went to fit a mk.3 astra mpi pump into it. (the norm for a conversion)

the pump doesnt want to fit, it seems too long, and is fouling on the base of the swirl pot before its all the way down. i tried rotating the filter at the base of it, to different angles, for a better fit, as i thought it was getting caught on the swirl pot, but no luck. i didnt want to force it either.

i checked the 2 pumps together, side by side, and there both the same length, which is a good sign, however, when i took the original spi pump out, the base filter wasnt attached to it, it was sitting in the swirl pot, which makes me think that one was too big as well ?

are they usually this tight a fit ?

doesnt seem right to me, as the mpi astra it came out of, had plenty room for the pump.

cheers for any info.

You fit the MPI pump in place of the SPI one

Use a nova base filter and all the other bits

both base filters look the same to me.

what do you mean by 'all the other bits' ?
