trying to decide on how to tune my 1300 8v engine. it will be going into a nova saloon converted to a pickup and it will be rear engined. i can do anything engine wise and i am using the 1300 as i do have a fair few kicking about. it will be having a rebore and a considerable amount of head work done to it. im not to sure on what cam to be using. atm in the group im in now my 1.3 with limited mods revs to about 7500 by time im at the corner, literally any help on finding a decnt camshaft would be brilliant !!

Use a 14SE engine try job racing for a cam, they do their own special grinds not sure if they sell cams on their own.

Up the compression by decking the block and skimming the head plus porting it a bit, Kent AST17 cam and solid lifters and decent fuelling - twin 40s or throttle bodies or similar.

This is fantastic lol
If youre allowed any mods you could make this into a really good car,as said, twin 40's or bike carbs.
get a project thread up

This really does need a project thread up on here, sounds like it could be a little bit bonkers eventually... also videos on the track ;)

winchesterpaul

anything mowgli, no 4wd or turbos over 1.7

mowgli

So why limit yourself to a 1300?

winchesterpaul
23-08-14, 09:53 PM
most people use motorbike engines or vauxhall red tops, others outside the box thinking use duratec/zetecs or volvo engines .... i think scorch said 1300because he had a few

if the rules say no turbos over 1.7, then an isuzu 1.7td will be pretty good... big intercooler, n/a manifold, virtually no exhaust, it will eat a redtop

winchesterpaul

really never even consider one

you've been listening to baxter too much lol
They don't rev hard enough.
You need to stay in the same gear the whole race

so use bigger wheels & the torque of the engine
