What size is the star socket that would fit when a 16mm hex socket fits snugly? I don't want to move this star stud with the hex socket though and it seems star sockets are measured differently.

Thanks

sorry i dont have a big enough bolt to simulate the male to female fit, but if i had to guess, its around abouts E18. its the closest one i have, but im not sure, and wouldnt want you to buy the wrong socket

its extra tricky gauging those too, as they taper slightly in shape

Thanks, it's for a mates car, I thought he should get the right tool rather than round things with a hex. They are on Ebay with 1/2" fit for £5 so He can get an E18 to start with and see if it fits, if not the next size.

You can get a decent set out halfords. Be better doing that. You can end up rounding them pretty easy. You can be fooled by thinking you have the right one when its one size too big.

Main crank bolt is a E20 female torques socket.

The Halfords set doesnt go big enough for the crank bolt - Machine Mart do a set which has twice as many sizes including crank bolt size which is what I bought and wasnt overly expensive.
