Some of you may know I bought Lewis' 89 SR off him the other week. I thought I would start a project thread before I got to involved.

Basically this was the car a couple of years ago at PVS12

...and this is her now. As you can see it needs a valet. We managed to get it running after a year of being sat there, started straight away after fitting a new fuel pump.

Plans are to fit a Turbo motor, convert it to cable shift, change the wheels and brakes, find a good interior and basically clean it up a bit.

Stay tuned!

Dan.

Update as promised,

The other day I went to pick up this..

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0570.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0570.jpg.html)

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0569.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0569.jpg.html)

As you can see it is a GSi interior, it is very dirty and the condition isn't perfect but it will look okay when I am finished.

This was the worse problem though,

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0944-Copy.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0944-Copy.jpg.html)

Me and the girlfriend spent a couple of hours trying our best to repair it.

Striped the seat back,
http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0945.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0945.jpg.html)

Used some thin Nova rear bench carpet to cover the mess,
http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0946.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0946.jpg.html)

We then lined that with a quilted material and cut out the old worn fabric of the seat, I then cut up a spare rear GSi seat to remove a piece of material.

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0947.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0947.jpg.html)

We then cut a piece to fit and patched her up,

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0954.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0954.jpg.html)

It looks 100% better and is a lot less notice able,

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_0956.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_0956.jpg.html)

Overall very happy! I will fit them nearer the time to get it on the road.

Dan.

A bit of an update, I want this Nova to be a nice ride and not massively loud on the inside so I decided to go down the hole sound deadening route.

First off I lined the back of the door cards with foil wrap.

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1027.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1027.jpg.html)

I also lined the doors with it.

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1038.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1038.jpg.html)

oh and most of the car

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1030.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1030.jpg.html)

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1161.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1161.jpg.html)

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1155.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1155.jpg.html)

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1162.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1162.jpg.html)

before doing all this I raided a scrappy and collected a good pile of sound deadening.

I used these rear panels out of a clio.

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1160.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1160.jpg.html)

I lined the hole floor with some panels out of a selections of megane.

http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/balley77/Nova%20sr/IMG_1163.jpg (http://s818.photobucket.com/user/balley77/media/Nova%20sr/IMG_1163.jpg.html)

Once all that was done I then set about refitting the interior.

This is how far I got.

It wants a bloody good vacuum still and a very thorough clean but its getting there.

Good looking car.
The carpets are a nylon moulding so are fine to use a hose pipe/pressure washer on. Blast them from behind with the hose & detergent & drive the dirt/debris upwards out of the fibres for best results.

Thanks Craig, I have already done that. They were spotless but I got them dirty again fitting them in the rain.

I did a bit to my old TD and it made it a bit quieter etc while cruising. Well worth the effort I think.

With all that sound deadening a sound system in it would be cracking ;)

It has an amp and some 6x9s, I am going to fit some stealth front speakers too. Should sound okay then :)

just general building insulation mate. Nothing special. It can only help though.
