I have had a craving to change the engine in my nova to a c20let/xe ,so I was wondering what sort of prices complete 20lets go for these days. As I'm still tempted to just fit the 20xe as my last one was quick enough but then I still remember going in dave marshalls turbo years ago which was entertaining

The diffence between a xe nova and a let is day and night. 1k for engine and box, hh plating kit, 22spline shafts, mounts job done

Thanks for the reply even if I fit the xe it will have the hh plating kit and conversion shafts/mounts

800 cash for a let, £20 for a F20
I wouldn't bother with a plating kit, just weld every seam up.
Gsi/Gte shafts/2nd hand machined ones.

£1000 max.

SCRAP that!

£600 here... Get this bought. I would if it was on other end of the world to me.

Payed £1100 for mine rebuilt by SBS with new belt kit and WP. Think you need boost pipes and front mount bare minimum and exhaust needs mating it aint just a straight swap

Not as bad as I first thought cost wise, as for spec it would want no more than 240bhp,
also what intercooler could you run to keep it subtle behind a 1 peace mk1 bumper

Think most go for the Frontera intercooler.

Thanks Alex ,it's just plan at the minute I have to remove and sell the engine that's in there first

LET's do it mate! Lol people slag them off saying old technology blah blah blah, love to see both our cars with let engines in...

Let's indeed Scott, I might fit a gte front bumper on mine as I don't fancy the intercooler on show
it will be a shame to pull the old 8v engine out as it's a fun little engine and I will have to change the exhaust I had made for it

No no no, don't go gte, even I thought of doing that, but I will make mine fit behind the grill section...
I know what you mean, I love my 8v as it is, but I'm bored of it, I want to have turbo power, and the engine came up the right time..
I'm sure you'll sell everything, especially the exhaust, what boar is it?

Get a twin pass intercooler, loads on ebay, they fit behind the mk1 bumper, I have one for mine

For my 1300 turbo conversion :) few more bits to collect, might do it over the winter, see how much of the other stuff I want to do gets done first tho

Ahh I see, I forgot about that one ;)

Them twin pass are a bit too thick imo, I'll keep looking, as I can't see how to get fans in there too.

IMO a custom rad and cooler setup is the only way to go. Trying to make standard parts fit is a compromise.

Obviously a lot cheaper though!

not it sure what the boar is on the exhaust it's quite big as it's pushing a bit of power for a 1.4,what size do people fit to the turbos as it would be nice to just get it modified

If your not going for loads of power a2" to 2-1/4 is fine I believe.

Standard calibra is 2 1/4 but loads of let novas have ran magnex and the like for years with no problems and there all 2in bore

LET ftw!

chris gsi
02-08-14, 07:58 PM
That's good news on the exhaust as I think it's 2 1/4 that will save a bit of money, and it looks like I have a engine lined up and the mounts so it will be time to rip the old girl apart soon

Sounds like it's going to be turbo time then, looking forward to seeing a build thread on it, will you being doing track days then or that a silly question lol

chris gsi
02-08-14, 08:48 PM
I will have to see about track days as I would prefer a roll cage before I took it on track and I need to have seats in it for now but one day it will
