Maybe a heatgun on low heat or hairdyer using a plastic scraper and finish of with white spirit on a cloth.

Exactly that. Did the exact same thing on my gsi. If you get it all out then there is a nice weight saving too.

upvc cleaner works well too

I used a blow torch, heated it up all over then pealed it off in large pieces.
