Hi. My xe has a 3" backbox - its not mega loud unless you give it some, but still not for me, so I want to change it for a more normal sounding one and was wondering if anyone has an xe on a standard, or mildly louder backbox, and which one fits properly?
Cheers
Steve
Ashley do a 2.25" manifold and 2 box sytem that is a (n almost) straight fit.
Check the bore of the pipework coming off the manifold and if 2" (standard bore for XE) most Nova systems will fit with some tweaks.

Thanks mate, will check. Is it a decent non offensive sounding system?
Mines got an extra box in and is quite quiet. Modified car quiet not quiet quiet.

Will a standard astra gte 16v back box fit in space available on a nova and still be straight? Basically I am after a standard back box to suit the xe engine.

The Ashley system is the cheapest and best solution, I use to have one on my old track car, full manifold to back box, the box is a satin black discreet setup, but I also had an extra box in mine due to it going on track, imo would be OK without the extra box.

Only thing is, anything standard will be 1-3/4 etc, not 2-2.5" that personal is better for xe, 2" minum imo.
Most aftermarket Nova smallblock stuff is 2" isn't it? So adequate for a standardish XE

Interesting... Wonder how, or why my magnex gte back box fits my 1200 system.

Found a nice quiet solution and it was fitted today - so quiet that I can now hear the engine properly and can talk normally on my hands free :)
Two and a quarter inch system with a small middle box to a Renault espace 2.2 rear silencer (fits in available space nicely with plenty of room so it can move without touching car)
If anyone wants to hear it I did before and after audio clips.
Change in performance is minimal, feels a bit stronger mid range.
