Best oil?

Trying to think of best oil to go in my GTE, as its getting towards 150K now.

Its been run on semi synth for most of its life. Major wear isn't so much of an issue as it has been quite well looked after.

I can get hold of some of that slick 50 stuff for about ?10 & can get Castol GTX Magnatec for the same price. Will it make any difference, or just a waste of money & advertising gimmick?

on ur high meleage engine its not really worth it unless its had work done. not that much life left in it anyways. but if u can get magnetec for same price then go for it it does make a diff

sorry but these engines if looked after properly could easily see 200k

oil change every 5000miles should help it along

one thing ive heard mentioned recently is that the magnatec has a high ash content compared to other oils and tends to sludge up more

supposedly vaux stuff is around the best...

i was in an independant bosch injection servicing place the other week getting some spares and noticed the only oil they stocked was vaux oil

must say summat for the quality methinks

i went to halfords and they had a look in a little book and told me the best ol for the year and age.have a go
