Would a kcast1 cam make a 1300S run lumpy?

I reckon it would yep. Just look at stats for it on kent cam website

Defo would on tickover yes I would think, so it's up and running then

Do you have vernier pulleys on? If so have they been set up properly. I had cams on a previous nova that wouldn't tick over on it's own at all lol

Yeah. Kent adjustable pulley. I've got the timing spot on off a timing light. It's lumpy on tickover but as soon as I touch the accelerator it revs spot on. Feels underpowered when driving tho

IMHO the ast1 is a fairly light upgrade over std so shouldn't cause too many issues. Perhaps your idle jets aren't quite right along with the base ign timing not being right.

A timing light is for setting ignition timing not cam timing

Who cares about low rpm.

i know. I was just answering the question then stating what I had done to rule that out.

How is cam timing checked then?

Dial gauge and protractor wheel ideally

It'll be on standard timing marks most likely.... all the AST2's I've seen are on standard timing even after a play on the RR to get more.
