Hi,

Had the nova out for a run the other day came home, went back out to it and it wouldn't start!

I got fault codes for crankshaft sensor and engine control module...

first tried putting standard chips back in, then fitted a new crankshaft sensor (actually isn't the greatest fitting but depth etc is the same) still no luck...

then tried a different ecu and just for the sake of it a coil and it still won't go!

Its getting fuel and spark but just not firing!

On my way home with it the other day it did have a little hiccup up where the engine management light came on and it ran very lean then the light went off and it was ok again??

Any ideas?

Cheers! :thumb:

Still no joy it's not the injectors...

tried ecu, crankshaft sensors, plugs and a coil.

any ideas??

Has all the hallmarks of a crank sensor fault Rob. Was the one your tried brand new? From Autovaux?

Hey Kev,

yeah it's a new sensor.. It's just doing the same with trying different parts.

its cranking and cranking like its ready to fire but it just isn't! Hope it's not the immobiliser but I thought if it was the immobiliser that wouldn't allow it to spark?

Cheers

Is it a genuine sensor?

Wiring issue going to the crank sensor would be the next thing to check, im sure ive read before about iffy plug connections etc

Hi bazil,

checked that... Still no joy.

So far far that's ecu, injectors, fuel pump relay, coil, crank sensor all checked but it's still not firing. It's getting good spark etc

any other ideas?? It's got to be something stupid that I'm missing...

where are all the main earths on a nova? Can't see it being that but I'm running out of ideas

cheers

Have you flashed any fault codes up?

Hi Southie,

yeah I got off the top of my head codes I think 51&31

they are engine control module and crankshaft sensor.

Dont know all of what the engine control module may consist of??

Cheers

sometimes they come up if the crank and sync signals are out - say, the timing belt jumps for instance...
