As above on my 1300sr
i turn key to off position and remove keys and it still runs so I have to stall it to turn it off
It did it before pvs so I changed the ignition switch on the end of the barrel for a brand new genuine one
not sure what to look at now

lol, if you haven't rewired it, it could be a dodgy relay getting hot! or a ignition switched live that is getting power from a permanent live source caused by damaged\stripped wires.

Swop the red and black wire around that's plug in separate on the coil you have them the wrong way possibly and that's in broken scouse if you understand it lol

you cant get the wrong way on the coil

Is it round coil type ? Then you have a live crossed over to ignition live try un plugging your Heater fan as you just had switch go funny could be fan shorting out

clocks are shagged
why how?
Plastic track on the back of clocks cracked /shorting out?
Main car loom damaged?

Haven't you recently rebuilt your engine? Are you sure your timings all correct and the dizzy ain't too advanced as I'm sure I once had this years ago on an old sr of mine and it kept running on once turned off... Could be wrong so don't quote me Conza.
running on can be lowish fuel mix or too high a mix, check spark plugs.
If not then is teh car overheating?
If not then it does sound to me like the ignition timing, buy a strobe light, the £20 it costs will save you a fortune in teh long run.
Does the car just keep going until you remove the coil wire or does it just splutter for a few seconds? Former probably means wiring, later almost certainly ignition timing.
If you are adjusting by hand, the revs will be at max when it is too far advanced, you will need to retard it a bit. Once you have the right timing and it doesn't run on, then adjust your carb fotr your idle.
Also does the vacuum advance work?
A lot of folk here will niot agree with this, but years ago my ohv used to eitehr cut out after 100 miles or occqasionally run on, couldn't find the problem.....eventually a change from ngk to chamion plugs sorted it, 6 years later it has never done it since. At a guess the ngk's must have been a ffraction of a degree too hot for the old ohv.

I think if I'm correct it just keeps running not that it's running on it won't stop till you stall it
try this Connor put the key I turn to first click so the lock is off and bump start it if it goes then you 100% have a wire crossed somewhere

ignition timing 100% correct
its not overrunning like dgb said it actwally running like you haven't switched it and will keep running till it runs out fuel
It's never got hot and the gauge sits in a nice position but if left idling for a bit it will get a tad warmer then fan cuts in
its werid as it only happens once ever 10-15 times of turning it off which is the werid thing as I fort it would be doing it all the time
When we having a deal then!

The alternator is back feeding the ignition circuit. Probably going through the battery light. Try it without the alternator belt or alternator wiring.
You out might need to fit a diode to the alternator if you can't track down where it's back feeding the ignition.
