as per title, ive got a head gasket change on my hands, new gasket kit is here :-
*inlet manifold
*exhaust manifold
*rocker cover
*head gasket

Not sure when any gasket was last changed, but im just curious as to opinions on if I should change the star socket head caps to bolts on bothe inlet and exhaust manifolds. If I was to change them what size bolts are needed in both cases ?

Any help appreciated

Cheers meritlover, so I take M8 is standard size for both and length would be same ?
Just thinking its easier to change them rather than mess about with allen keys and ratchet set

Does the material of the bolts matter at all ?

Just to be clear, are you talking about your head bolts or the manifold bolts?

M8 studs & M8 nuts.

Your Vauxhall dealer should be able to supply the correct parts. Or a motorfactors/engineer can supply the studs & nuts.

studs every time. You will end up cross threading if you bolt into the head.

get copper nuts.

or go to a scrappy and rob them off an old engine.
