Had to go back for some re-mapping so here are the final figures.
I was pleased with the performance but not so pleased with the oil leak that occurred as I was loading up to come home:cry:

no it wouldn't...... a 300hp redtop would last about 100 miles between rebuilds

Phew! The oil leak wasn't the engine after all. One of the oil pipes that goes from a Leda shocker to its canister managed to wriggle down when I bumped off out the dyno rollers and allowed itself to rub against the alternator pulley with predictable consequences.
I never doubted the engine for a minute lol

BTW the re-map was cos I'm using Sunoco 260GT 105 RON race fuel rather than the inconsistent 98 RON Optimax that was about in 2004 when the engine was originally built and mapped.
We discovered a lot of the map cell figures were way off using the new fuel in the central rev range which explained the poor pickup and rough running. The original mapping had needed to make allowances for the variability in the RON values of fuel sold at the pumps in those days. Basically Optimax went off and the RON dropped enough to induce serious detonation and kill high performance motorsport engines that had no automatic knock detection and ignition timing adjustment
