I picked up my new car today. Aways promised myself a fast car after uni, and now i have got it.

Keeping the Sr as a daily drive and using the new one evening and weekends.

Its got 2l 8v engine, and its tuned up to 164 bhp

Its quite modded to, lowered, alloys, single wiper etc...

Putting buckets (taken out of Sr) and a roll cage in, plus needs some new rear arches, so got the repair kits to go on.

Heres a pic:

What do you think?

very nice 8)

Yeah i was thinking of taking that chrome V off, possibly do a mk2 front end conversion?

As for those vents on the bumpers, i am not too keen on those either. I am gonna look into removing them.

The exhaust is a sportex one, i think it looks good and sounds good, alot quieter than the mongoose on my sr.

Mark

Yeah, the V just seems somehow out of place...
Quieter
Loud is good :D

So your Mongoose is loud, how loud?

I've got a Peco back box on me 1.2, getting rid of it, too loud, can't even hear the engine over the damn thing

there an ashley backbox on the white sr which sounds nice and loud enough and no backbox on red one so loud as fuck wish i could keep it that loud

JonL
12-09-03, 12:21 AM
Well, its not that quiet, i think the engine roar is somewhat louder than in my sr. Still that mongoose (not 100% sure its mongoose, found in a scrap yard by the previous owner and he ripped the label off and got it cheap(?20) and he knew it began with M. Was identified my MikeSri as a mongoose) is well loud, its a full stainless from the down pipe back.

Apparently my mate that owned it before me went to get another one built by powerflow and the bloke there said he didn't want to cos it was the best exhaust he had ever heard on a nova.

Loud as in can be heard many roads away. I could hear my mate at least a minute before he arrived at my house. Admittedly the roads back onto each other at some points but i could hear it all the way.

Car looks sweet, couple of things I'd do personally, but it's not my car so you can tell me to sit down and shut up if you like!!

1. Remove the chrome V grille, these don't suit Nova's at all IMO
2. Change the bumper inserts for something more 'butch' the sky blue looks a bit.......errr.......'limp wristed' for a blokes car!!!
3. Remove the Mongoose exhaust and send it to me!!!!
3a. Ignore that, if you remove the mongoose then you deserve to be shot at dawn, imo they are the best exhausts around, I used to have one and I'd get another one in a shot if I could afford it (Hopefully my PowerBlow will fall off one day so I can justify a new exhaust purchase to the missus!!)

Thanks again peeps :D

Yeah not too keen on the blue bumper bits, also the door handle surrounds are that colour to. I'll look into sorting that when it goes into the body shop.

Will look into the V- Grille later when i put the buckets in :)

GTE's look outdated?

Novas all together look outdated nowadays as they are 10 years old at least.

Dosent mean people dont like them anymore or less.

I would prefer to own a bog standard GTE than GSi but prefer a slightly modded GSi to a GTE.

Definitly keep it Mk1 mate. There arn't many of them left and it would be a chrime to update it to an already dated mk2 front!

I'm planning to convert a mk2 back to mk1 soon, simply because i cant find a clean mk1 anywhere!

Thanks again people. Just fitted the buckets to it and stripped out the rest of it, looks even better now.

Although i did find that the rear ashtrays are also covered in that turquoisey blue colour, and the strut brace and AFM :?

Elesey - I doubt it was in FC as the last owner has had it 5 years.

GTE - Racer - it was ?1100

NovaNutter! - They are 15's one mine. I'll take some of the engine a bit later.
