anyone know if you can get something that gives a constant electrical resistance reading like a volt meter but can be mounted in the car?
cheers

You could buy a cheap multimeter and mount it in the car with the probes attached to whatever it is your trying to measure. Just out of of interest, why on earth would you want do do that? what are you tryig to measure?

I have a vw 1900 tdi engine and you can do a modification using a adjustable electrical restrictor on two wires that dictate the fuel flow from the ecu. so the more you turn the switch down the more fuel it will pump in to the engine to compensate
so I just want to keep a eye on what the switch is doing as its being adjusted
Oh dear god.....
just at watch the voltage across it as to do a resistance test the device has to pump current into the circuit and will screw things up....
or or alternatively don't do this mod, please for the love of all things sensible. Pissing about blindly with high pressure Diesel engines is a sure fire way to grenade it

its no different to the lads winding in the fuel pump on the td engines. the mod is well established and people have found the safe working loads, so it will be happening just want to find a way to keep a better eye on it
You won't find an off the shelf live circuit ohm meter for sub £100 ime
just read the voltage, and if you feel particularly cunning put an inline resistor at the minimum value deemed 'safe' by these 'experts' so you never go there

thanks sounds like a good idea. don't want to spend stupid money on it as its only a temp mod as if I keep it I will go down the bigger nozzle and turbo route
Which poor Diesel engine is it that you will be shortening the life of?

??? that's the engine code

The vw AHU has been proved reliable with 200hp but that's a bit more work than what is commonly known as the evry mod
But to be honest turbojolt you wont need to monitor the resistance you just wind the pot up until the engine starts to shudder then back it of a touch

You can't read a resistance with an ohmmeter or similar if there is a voltage present.
it will simply blow the meter up if there is a voltage source present.
precisely.....
tj, fit a bigger turbo & injectors before you start pissing about with resistors on pumps....
this sounds a recipe for failure lol
might as well fit a ecotek valve and a electric supercharger whilst your at it
