is it alright to do this ? ... or will it just smoke, and burn off eventually ?

im fed up of the manifold studs rotting away, and the downpipe bolts snapping, so wanted to try prevent the hassle

Just buy new bolts and copper nuts or strip the inlet side of another head there the same

Copper grease is fine for exhaust bolts

I often use it on assembly so exhaust sections don't seize together too.

copper grease is awesome, used a whole tube on rebuilding my nova! I put stainless steel exhaust studs on mine too
