Attempting to make some hybrid handbrake cables. I'm using some go kart cable clamps but they're slipping under the stress when you pull it up.

What's the most reliable way to join handbrake cables? Can I weld them together safely?!

Why do you need to join cables? If you are fitting C brakes just use a pair of C cables and make an adjuster for the handbrake end.

There are cable places that can re crimp the ends for you they use 80ton press to do then there is a local on to me in Ellesmere Port that I use for all sorts of cables I'm sure there are places local to you

Not sure 1-2mm?

Yes for the C brakes, I've gone about it a different way which meant I can't use the Corsa cables as they were, hard to explain.

I have a working mock up but it means joining cables half way down reliably.

Oh, Ok. Just clamp it then if theres nobody who can crimp a new end on for you.

Unfortunately already committed and chopped the Corsa C cables to suit this approach, will order some of those clamps. Going to visit a marina shop later to see if they can join them or sell those clamps.

You can get a taper lock fitting that only gets tighter as to pull it more and more don't know the name of them or if they come that small

Yes good website thanks Southie, I was going to give them a call but I've managed to get the little U clamps to hold now by removing the plastic film from the Corsa cable. Happy days

_Jake see my WIP thread for info on clearing coilovers.
