View Full Version : y17dt into a nova?
Does it fit?
I have a derv chassis leg so thats no issue,
So whats needed to fit one?
god knows...
didn't hobbit fit an older Isuzu 1.7td into a mk4 astra a while back???
I'd imagine the later electronics will be the bigger issue
Think I read somewhere that in a nova I need to use 1.5 td inlet but not to sure why lol,
Basically im wondering if its worth doing or best selling the surplus parts I have
the n/a inlet is apparently better.
to fit the cav 1.7td, you need the front end of the engine from the 1.5td
Dont have the cav engine, Its a combo dti one I have,
Dti lumps are poo, bin it and get an izuzu one, thats what lives in my combo :d

The Y17DT is a 16v Isuzu lump - fitted to early Corsa C/Combo/Astra G
Y17DTL is the same, but lower output.
As I am finding, the EDU on the fuel pump is the biggest issue with these!!
Mine had the oil pump pulley failure so fixed that a few years back, edu has been fine but heard of the issues

Just bought a non running Corsa with a Y17DT in it. Previous owner spend serious amounts with a so called diesel specialist, who spent hours without success on why it doesn't start.
EDU is the issue. Sadly not the usual dry joints, but seems component failure within - so a new one is on the way!
Alan just get a 1300 engine for the sport. ....
Got one, was thinking a derv sport might be better
As I am finding, the EDU on the fuel pump is the biggest issue with these!!
Faulty fuel EDU is a £50 fix. My old Corsa C van died from it, sent EDU away, came back 2 days later, 4 allen bolts & 1 multi plug to refit, worked again.
