What do we think to my Stanced Nova?

So i have gone down the "Stanced" route with my Nova saloon.
She was fully resprayed over the winter period, back to original colour. People were asking why i didnt want to go a different colour, and my reaction was the same to everyone... Its not original and any other colour would not go with the original green interior!

When she was in the body shop, wheel arches were rolled, and rear arches were flaired slightly, to allow for the 15x8J ET20 Banded Steelies.

Stanced is simply a car lowered to the point you **** the handling up, then you bolt on wheels that dont fit and fit tyres to those wheels that are to small. You csn take it further by ****ing up the way it drives even more by giving it absurd amount of camber, normal involves bodging and dodgy shims and stuff

By 'bodge' do you mean 'weld'?

Coachbuilders (you know the people who make stretch limos and hearses) have been added metal to normal cars to change them since before any of us were born.

I can tell you now that if someone make a 'stanced' car handle properly Burgo would love it... because it does look good. But I agree with Burgo a car still has to be functional as well as look good, not totally sacrificing handling for looks.

Yes, there was some irony in the reply, meaning the stupid vw kids do it, and it doesn't look right imo, so i didn't think us nova enthusiasts should be rushing to follow suit.

Not true.
I know alot of stanced cars that have alot more mods to keep better handling. Rasied turrets, lowered track arms and things.
Most of them have proper camber shims. Not the plastic ones. Everything is very well set up. With no bodging at all.

YEs like in everything there will some kid who does it all the wrong way... But you get them in everything.. Inc on here.

I think this car is rarer than any Sport, SR or GTE etc, it is the only one I know of in that colour combination. I like the retroness, the fact you left the body colour & interior standard. I like what you have done with it and the style.
I think it looks lovely, I just question its driveability. I remember a Golf at Retro Rides struggling to get around the show sit and bottoming out everywhere. If you had air ride then that could give you a more practical ride height whilst driving and lower it for show.
I see what Benn is saying about the setup but the wheels are so close to the arch that I see no room for any kind of suspension travel. Is there room and is there any travel? What suspension are you running? Did it go through an MOT like that? Not sure what the legalities are running a stance like that.
I like the look of stretched tyres too but I am not sure I could run them. Maybe I am a little older and wiser as I worry what would happed in the event of a blowout. Having been in the motor trade a while I have seen the mess left by a blow oit on a correctly fitted tyre! I seem to remember John H had a blow out on his banded steels and stretched tyres, maybe he could shed some light as to how much of an **** twitching moment it was lol
Again, it looks lovely and I hope to see it at some shows this year.

For the record I dont personally consider this that stanced. Ive gone lower, and the wheels just fit, none of that silly poke thing.
Any one who knows me knows that I would and do like this, ive been a champion of saloons for a long time.
And Benn maybe from your area they do things right but ive have see very very few stanced cars done properly and have only ever seen bodging hence my comment, which also wernt directed at this if you read again.

I love the look of this car, the interior especially. I can spot all the extra 'luxuries' that my base model saloon hasn't got.
Mine is awaiting the bodyshop and I was considering some arch work to help with wider rims. So Im interested to know more about how its like to drive, the suspension and tyre catching.
I always find it difficult to get the right balance between looks and performance. Ive taken to track days with my saloon, but would love a more 'stanced' look than I have.

Nah will be 7s on the fronts I would have thought, car looks fantastic, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, the style and look of this car is very vw, and when it comes to car scenes, diversity etc they cannot be beaten, maxpower came and went with the 90s, clean bodywork and a set of nice wheels has always been a winning combination.

Recently picked up a nice daily,i didnt realise just how nice GVectra C's are to drive, they have really suprised me!

I've gone for the Vectra C SRi, with the optional XP Styling pack, which finishes the car off lovely i think, especially in the Misty Morning Blue (Z169). I may even lower it at some point, but nothing major as its just a daily! lol

It certainly is mate, we had it done around 15 years back, and it cost us in the region of £4,000, but it is a large space, so it wasn't too bad to be completely honest.

But you get what you pay for... the drive has never sunk, cracked or anything, we just have it re-varnished each year which costs around £200.

Sounds good :) looks in great condition for 15years old! Our tarmac is about 25yrs old and is buggered (mostly since we moved in 10 years ago an I do car work on it so brake fluid and oil destroy it lol )

I feel this massively, I hate when a group of nobheads gather round your car and they're either criticising what you've done or eyeing up what they can nick. For these reasons, I honestly don't think I'll be at PVS again. Billing I felt a lot more comfortable at!!!
