I heard it on news also
Knowing the encrypted password is a bit useless unless you know the encryption key really. I'd be more worried about someone now having a massive database of names, addresses, DOB and email addresses

Since this hacking I have been getting calls from people claiming to be ebay, offering website building and shipping contracts. When questioned they claim they are ebay employees, but when investigated they are simply canvassers.
Coincidence?

I have loads of accounts but only been asked to reset one of the passwords. Not sure if I've anything to worry about, suppose its worth checking your PayPal to see if there's been anything going on.

Paypal is password protected so shouldn't be a worry....
They can't do much with your ebay password as above, it's PayPal that sends the money. You just have to explain it all to the mrs when you get a reply to a question about gimp masks and lube.....
They could list a load of dodgy crap on your account though. IIRC older accounts have the option of doing non-paypal listings, so they could do cheque/cash/transfer sales.
I've not had a password reset request and can't see anything on the homepage about it though

Think you may have to be signed in first to get the prompt..
Apparently the hack took place in late February. .
Nice early heads up tbe from ebay......:(

Yep, and like me end up a victim of identity fraud (happened Feb 18) for x4 contract phones in my name & address, 1 months use of all 4 phones totalled in the region of £20k in text messages averaging 1k messages a DAY from each phone sent to the Netherlands. No doubt PPI or "accident claim" phishing texts to call back on premium rate numbers.
