I got an advisory in my MOT for a minor leak in the central exhaust. Under inspection there is a hairline crack about a third of the way round the central box section.

It is a Scorpion exhaust on an XE.

Can I weld this to repair? If so do I try and just weld over the crack or should I make a patch and patch it up?

I am more worried about the exhaust snapping if the crack goes right round.

Thanks.

You can weld this it could be miged most stainless will take it I've welded plenty you could drill a hole at the end of the cracks this can help stop the crack continuing and also Possably brace across to another part of the pipe to box if possible or if your bothered take it of and to an engineering place get them to tig weld it

The mig welds will rust though of it's just mild steal wire used

Thanks, it welded very easily, i welded up the crack and then put a patch over it and spot welded it for further strength. All painted silver so hopefully it won't rust too quickly. Thanks again for the advice.
