Basically i have an e16se and I've been told it's been honed so I need oversized rings but just out of curiosity i put a piston in the bore and it don't seem much different form factory would i be able to run standard rings or am I gonna have top go oversized?(I though you only needed oversized for boring out) i know the difference are in the thousandths and more than likely not visible to the eye so I'm probably answering my own question but thought I'd ask anyway. also the crank has supposedly been reground but a normal bearing felt fine on it so i'm unsure?! failing all that i'll have to take it to an engine shop to be measured

You used too be able too get cords rings which were slightly oversized from std. But almost certain there not made anymore. Tbh unless building a big bhp/high revving engine then jist get new std rings.
Bearing wise vernier should indicate if its been ground .25 or .5mm. Or plastigauge the bearings. Should be approx 2.5thou clearence

The only way you can tell is to measure the bores. Or, fit a new std compression ring squarely in the bore and measure the gap with feeler gauges.
If you fit over size rings and the gap is not large enough you will snap them, but you can file them until the gap is right.
If it's been honed enough to need new rings then it was a spunk puppet who did the job.

Gonna have to take it to be professionally measured just to be safe, I thought it'd be ok on standard ones but gotta be safe

Measure it yourself, stick the top ring in the bore, use the piston to push the ring down about an inch so it's square and level, measure the ring gap with feeler gauges.
