Hi,
Anyone know where I can get my hands on a genuine 64mm front wheel bearing?
Had one off ebay, fell apart during intallation.
Ordered one from Vauxhall, they don't seem to know their own cars and gave me a 66mm bearing.
They are listed on Vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk as Vauxhall parts but the price is a bit (a lot) cheap, anyone know if these are genuine?
Thanks

Other than get lucky in eBay I think u will struggle. Just been through this myself, I settled for skf front bearings, about the best alternative u can get.

i dont understand how a genuine bearing will help. The construction and tolerences are virtually identical. GM dont make bearings.

there isnt actually anything holding the race in place other than a very thin pressed steel cover which engages in a thin groove to stop faeces and other detritous from entering into the cleanliness.
it is easy to dislocate from its completeness. If you have ever had a lot of balls in your hands during insertion you will know what this feels like.

i think you may have been too heavy handed.

Gm bearings are either SKF or Q&H. Just buy either of them, or a BRT bearing, as they are the makers of SKF beatings.

The one off eBay was a genuine part. And it wasn't me that was installing it... and no hammer was used, as far as I know!
Thanks

whoever was installing it needs to purchase one themselves, as they knackered it.

This.

The only way you can make a bearing fall to bits during fitting it, is if you dont know what you're doing.

As above, if they were using a press then they didn't set it up right as it's easy to pop centre of the bearing out and have all the balls go every where if not properly supported in the right places at the right times
