Right, just finished my front end rebuild, fill up all the fluids and get the jump leads out ready to turn it over... And nothing.
ive got nothing on the key what so ever.
its only a 1.2 carb but it's really pi**ed me off because it should be easy!
Its down to the starter loom and I've got the following connected;
thick red from battery - top starter nut
thin black and red to small starter nut
thin blue and white to alternator
thinner red and black to alternator
I've got the lower big connection on the starter motor with nothing attached, I may have missed an earth?.....
Any help appreciated

Ok thin red from the loom should go to the ault and blue white only black red to small thread on starter and thick red to the large thread
mk2 ? Brown earth to starter top bolt ?
Earth strap to gearbox connected ?
Brown earth from ns loom connected ( below the coil you photoed other day goes to same point as gearbox strap ?
Earth from ault tension bolt to the bolt through the other end of the bracket into the inlet
thin red black does not go to ault
starter faulty or ignition ?

Should still start on the gearbox strap tbh as mk1 only had that so I would just check everything and sand all the meeting faces before fitting them get a good connection

The 2 of you can break down together lol we put an engine in his last week think he's only been out in it today so far
Will get him to contact you and if you do we can meet up on route think going to be a fair few there have you seen the thread on here ?
just a question, is the thick red wire from battery to starter linked over to the alternator? shouldnt have a black and red at the alternator either just the light wire to the clocks and the large red linked over from starter
