Hi guys I was hoping to have my wee nova on the road today but all didn't go according to plan, wee stripped of the aircon and power steering pump and fitted the mounts to the 1.4 16v engine then popped the shafts in and went to offer it to the car, the drivers side mount fitted in but the passenger's side one wasn't having any of itand would not line up, we also had problems with the brake master cylinder and servo were being fouled also, and that there was very little room at the back of the engine towards the bulkhead, is there something I've done wrong fitment wise as the last engine has bodies on it and plenty of room any help would be great:thumb:

Something sounds wrong, they don't sit particularly snug up to the bulkhead. Which mounts have you used?

They were the mounts from the nova it had a 1.6 16v in it before which had diblas tb's on it and they were the mounts from it but it wasn't sitting good at all :( biggest problem was it wasn't clearing the brakes which aint good

get some pics up as said, the 14/16xe should bolt straight in using 8v nova mounts,

That's the only pic I have of it half in which gives an idea of the angle after that the mechanic ripped it straight back out

Where I've circled is the area that was fouling the brake servo and cylinder

Something sounds off there the drivers side mount is not I. The wrong bolt holes ?

mr sri

That's the mount there that was used for the drivers side that the the two nuts tighten onto plus the egr valve at the front was sitting very snug under the slam panel which may have fouled the radiator aswell

Think you can do away with the egr ?

Mount looks ok missing a bolt but looks ok not sure what's up but it's miles over to the pass side I'd your photo

was the rear mount bolted up. ?

Id is pop the shafts out easy enough to fit them later fit the rear mount only to the box then hang it in and fit the rear mount first then try the others

Has anyone got a picture of a 14/16 16v fitted so I can have an idea of how it should look cheers:thumb:

Through chrisd1986 thread he has an x16xe fitted in his green hatch

did you put the rear mount on at all? without it it will cause the engine to lean back,

Nah pal the mechanic put the drivers mount fitted and when it started to foul the brake servo he decided to call it a day as he said it won't do any tips pointer are mostly appreciated

It fits all day every day so if your not doing it then he's doing something wrong as these are direct fit no messing about so it's miles away from being correct in the pics you posted so I would start with both front mounts off and swing it on the gear box rear mount then try the front box mount then drivers side mount see how that goes

or or post more pics up so can look at mounts in situe

Spot on I've had a wee read through the "how to fit a small block" thread and I'm going to have to get another crack at it and get all the parts I need first as I'm needing an alternator, throttle cable and fuel pipe union that fits the fuel rail aswell how would I get around the egr valve at the front of the engine if it sits snug to the slam panel and radiator? Can I run it without it

Not mine as mine has a powerbox fitted, but this is how a standard inlet 1.4/1.6 16v engine should sit on standard nova mounts! ;)
BTW its tighter spaced in a corsa around that area too, so should fly in the nova bay!

I've had various C or x16xe engines fit, is usually the long pipe that fits around the back of the engine that catches on the brake lines, it will fit though.

Spot on guys as I'm itching to get the car on the road and was Stumped with the fitting of it, I take it the original nova brakes stay in place and I don't need to modify them at all :thumb:

Should not need to touch anything just get it in lol
Only thing I thought if you had or it had new break pipes at some point and there longer or shaped odd that may cause probs poss your prob

Mine were the original brake pipes ;)

No the brakes are all standard, so I in theory should have no problems of getting it fitted, only things I need to source are alternator, throttle cable as the last engine had Diblas inlet and various parts and a part for to secure the fuel line to the fuel rail " forgot what its called" lol think it's called a fuel pipe union?

Another one here, was a little tight because of the Velos Torque tube.
