Basically Tina as had a new car, swapped her insurance over but the old car is still taxed? I know the law changed a few years but can't remember exactly what it was. I've had a google but i'm just getting gerenic insurance crap back :(

Any ideas?

A letter will soon arrive from the dvla and say no insurance no tax so either insure or they take the tax back and you have to sorn it.

Yes needs cover.
it took about 4 months for the first warning to come through for us though.

I know someone who got a £100 fine for it last week.

Am I right in saying that you can have a car insured but not taxed?

Yeah, you could have a car SORN'd but still insured, e.g. if you took it off the road for the winter but wanted insurance in case it got nicked off your garage/driveway.

Its only been 10-12 days so far, she's given the log book to her Dad as its going in his name so he can put it on trade policy, so hopefully she'll be ok
