Channel 4 tonight at 8pm...looks like it will be good. I'm led to believe its a short series not a one off but I may be wrong

Ford =fail....

typical comment.... consider what Vauxhall were making at the same time as the mk1 escort, and try to come up with one that was anywhere near as good in std or modified form.

I love fords ,I have one but vauxhall were building the Firenza And Magnum around the time and were probably more successfully in circuit racing

I would of like to see the outside prepped for paint as one minute the roof went on then it was in primer

Gotta say I love the old escort's even though I'm a vauxhall man through and through but it was nice to see the mexico and it sounded awesome, my uncle has a white mexico rep with a played with 2ltr pinto on 45s with a locked rear diff its a weapon to drive in the damp or loose conditions :thumb:

Good show, but just not enough showing the actual Escort build, it was all about the history and current owner clubs!

Missed it Sunday night, watched it on 4seven last night - was fantastic, best program I have seen for a long time :thumb:

Just wish I could afford one lol

Was just about to add that point, my only real negative about it. Showed a bit of front end welding, the roof swap then being sprayed, then the engine being lowered in

This, although I suppose they only had an hour to fill and it was a 'prime time' thing. I guess BBC demographics probably have viewers at that time just wanting to see someone they recognise trolling about driving cars as opposed to some young unknown guy cutting out rust and actually building a car.

Would have been interesting if they'd made more of a series out of it rather than one-show-per-car. But then you'd be watching Mark Evans' doing A Car Is Born and IF the BBC were to show that it would be on BBC4 at 3am lol

...Incidentally, universal LOL's at work this morning at the poverty spec faded-red Mk4 Escort in the car park at work, proudly sporting wonky Mk1 Mexico badges. lol

My fav fords

transit sport

If you ever own one, you'll be muchly disappointed. There nowhere near as fast as they look. And its very common for the wheels & kit to be stolen off them too.

Cant fault your other choices though lol

I owned a 1600 mk2 escort for a couple of days in 1990.... I bought it for £50, and discovered it was so rotten, that it would never pass an mot... so I sold it to the scrap man.... on the drive over to the scrappers, I had it so sideways that I was looking out the rear passenger window & still got it round the corner.... its balance was amazing, steering it on the throttle everywhere... they really are very capable cars.... bmw e30s are too... my brother had a 320i in 1991 & it could whallop all the hot hatches that were around in those days, not necessarily over a 1/4 mile, but on a real road over several miles, it was hilarious & its balance at speed was great

I mainly like the look of the transit sport and the kit and wheels are safe where I live lol

I was always a Cortina and capri man and have had many of each model lol.
does anyone know what cars they are doing through this series?
I will stick with it as long as it avoids the Porsche etc brigade.

They were deliberately one of the slowest engine calibrations.
Make the van look nice then van weasel will look after it, but not too fast so van weasel cant get into too much trouble.

I'd have the sport with the TDCI 2.4 145PS cal (although I'd chuck on the 200ps calibration I have ;) )

The program was good, tried to make out that owners club meets were seedy things.... not at all. Owners club meets are ace, been to many Lotus and VX ones where people are just as interested and drive like loons.
A touch more about the build would have been nice but not the end of the world as its still a car program :)

S3 (I think) Landy this week.

Wonder when they'll show the Stag one... Might go buy one before it airs as no doubt the prices will go up after that.
