1.2i Nova running overly rich on startup
Hi there mind boggled about this one, basically my 92 nova 1.2i whenever I start it hot or cold it runs like a bag of ****, shakes, misses, black smoke, eml sometimes pops up then goes.. Also high revs on it's own then eventually they drop.. Basically it's running rich! And I'm eating through fuel like there's no tomorrow (£££) I've tried changing injector, plugs, leads.. Changed whole carb it's self, and it still does it (when warm runs ok but still eating fuel and a bit of a flat spot) but it never ever used to run like this. As if it's over fueling by far!! Can anyone help cheers!!

try changing the CTS mate.

do you know where the CTS sensor is situated mate? ive had a quick look but cant find exactly where it is cheers.

Think i have found it, on inlet manifold? left side... will i have to buy a new one or is it possible to clean? :confused:

does the EML pop up when its cruising or sitting at a fairly constant speed?

it has only ever done it once. but on start up (cold) it runs like a bag, all shaky and missing, then burns off the extra fuel and revs up on its own. literally sprays petrol from the exhaust! once warm runs ok, come up to a junction or lights and just revs up and then drops after a minute or two!! doing my nut!! normally starts up like a bag of s**t when warm too

but is definately drinking my fuel! BIG noticable difference from when it ran ok.

when i started from cold mate, but went out on it own shortly after.

My guess would be lambda sensor
