it'll never be an original lol if you like the look do a rep its your car, what you thinking?

Nothing wrong with a replica. Apart from when people try and flog it on as the real thing etc.

And also this really annoys me..... when people seem to think fitting, for example, a set of gsi skirts on a nova makes their 1.2 merit a 'gsi rep'. No mate, its a merit with skirts on.

Just looking at a gsi rep, exterior just needs vinyls and you couldn't tell, interior needs a few bits. It does have the 1600 engine in too, so pretty much there, just not on paper

i really want a gsi but no sure if it would get to me knowing it's not real lol

They're fine just as long as you don't badge it up, how many ropey old Sierra's do people remember with a cosworth badge on the back but were really a 1.6 L

GSi replica is quite easy to pull off and together with the 1.6 I wouldn't lose any sleep with it badged up as a GSi either. Too hard to find an original one in good condition when you can start with a better 1.2 shell and end up with the same

No issues with replicas, infact some of the cleanest Novas are replicas! Brown Sport anyone?

As said if your doing a full rep, exterior styling, interior and engine change then the fact that 'gsi' doesn't appear on the log book is nothing I would lose any sleep over. It's a very high financial penalty for those 3 letters on a piece of paper.

Hopefully you've bought the car for your own enjoyment/love of the car and not as an investment.

Definitely not an investment. I'd love a gsi but as we all know they are thin on the ground so maybe this is the way? Or do I keep my sr and buy a gsi project? Even they seem to sell for a fortune when they come up

Keep your SR

far far far more rare than a gsi or gsi rep,

That's the thing bazil I know what I've got and how rare it is etc which is part of the dilema.

Decision made. Am keeping my sr! I'll sell my s1 rs turbo and get a gsi project to work away with

Top man sr is lovely and shame to sell it so quick but needs must tbh just roll with the sr that's plenty enough and the right car will come along as a project there are loads at the min

Sell an s1 for a nova. Nutter series ones gain money daily

Yeah I wouldnt swap an RS turbo for a ropey GSi project (it is a project right), not when you have another Nova.

As for replicas, no worries imo, Nova shells are near enough all the same. Most Novas are like Triggers' Broom anyway.

Series one turbos are pish anyway, the only good thing about them is their value,

Rusty metal is rusty metal regardless of what badge is on it lol

ive fallen out of love with the blue oval. Had a s2 before the nova and I recon that's what ruined for me.

value wise s1's maybe worth more but look at that violet gsi that sold on here the other week for 5k, that wasn't even original with having the red top in it and the grey rotten gsi on eBay sold for near 1200 so going by that then nova prices are heading upwards too.
