We have a little tipper trailer that we use when we go camping, needs two new tyres so did a little look about and found some 6 ply as opposed to the normal 4 ply. The main difference between the two apart from kg is the speed rating. One of the annoying things is being limited to 60 with the 4 ply, the 6 have a max rating of 82. Obviously would not do that but would it enable me to do 70 which would defiantly make them worth the extra money. I know the max limit is 60 before I get a lecture lol

Thats a statement not a question lol

take it you want opinion ?

got 9 ply on my 3/4 ton old yolk trailer no problems with that fully on the limit but at 60 you know it's there. The limits not so much the tyres it's the response of the trailer At 70 if it's super light (camping gear unless your roping up Ben Nevis ) it's likely to fishtail at higher speeds but I'm guessing you know how it feels at 70 anyway lol but yes higher rated tyres won't harm and go as wide as you can on rim make it more stable

Cool, will prob go for the 6 ply, the reason I ask is did 70 on the 4 ply, it's the type with the inner tube and got a flat after 5 miles, hence never done it again. Never thought its more about fish tailing as opposed to tyres

The puncture tubed or not was nothing to do with speed unless the tyre was f. Ked anyway I would think

I remember a 5 series BMW passing me 1 day on the a55 with a Sierra cosworth on a trailer and I was doing 90, so you can imagine how quick he was going lol
