Banded steel wheels question..

Probably been asked before hundreds of times, but..I'll ask again.

14" sr steels are 5j correct?
So whats the biggest, or best amount of band you can add to the outside edge without fouling on a 3dr hatch? 1.5" so overall there 6.5.??

Remember it will alter the offset too, a 5J ET49 with 1.5" stuck on the outer rim will make a 6.5J rim with something like an ET20. You need .75" on inside & outside rims to retain the offset.

Humm.. So basically not worth bothering then, as I'd have to add say 1,1/4" - 1.5" max to get them to still fit, but gain a slight dished lip...

Just done bit of searching, some Internet sites say with 1.5" added the poke/added on amout will be 35mm to the outer edge, so I'll grab a wheel and see where that sits, if it will clear then I'll do it.
