tried that, got nowhere, ended up taking the back plate off and hammer and large screwdriver job again lol

its quite a big-un .. not sure on exact size as 32mm's the biggest spanner ive got, but it looks about 35 ish mil

There is a special tool for it, but I use a screw driver and hammer

41 or 46mm I think. Get a vernier on it and measure it.

No, haynes doesn't specify. I'll take an old water pump down to the garage when I MOT the xe and go through thier spanners to get the right one.
