Hi. Having recently replaced some bilstiens/gmax with FK coilovers I have noticed one side rubs on full lock. From research on here it seems removing the helper spring is the way forward......The ride quality is really impressive at the moment - will removing the helper spring reduce the quality? If yes are there other options to stop rubbing? Wheels are cav slabs with 45 profile tyre iirc.

Cheers

Steve

May need to get camber bolts to correct the angle or run spacers

I have some camber bolts, but have decided that the helper spring is to just keep the load spring seated when jacking up the car - you can compress it in your hands so no real ride difference - will increase ride height if required for the mot

Will let you know if the ride quality changes

J can not see how removing the spring helps unless that's what your rubbing agains if so yes that should sort it

Usually the tyres always rub on FK coilovers when on full lock, mine did so I removed the helper spring.

The ride was fine but I was running a smallblock at the time, if you're running a big block then I'd get some uprated front springs IMO.

This is the ride height I had on mine once they were removed:

Yeah it was just rubbing on the helper, but only one side!? Anyways I removed the helpers and problem solved. The ride comfort is now more to my liking for a daily drive, which is what I was hoping for and I can go much lower on the fronts should I wish to - currently quite low and a little lower than the one Southie showed a picture of.

I seem to be able to turn the steering wheel much easier now though - probably a bit of camber to sort out

Found out the rears I had on are koni adjustable shocks and the springs are SPAX, fronts are Bilstien and GMAX (-40mm all round) will be putting them in the sales part for a bit prior to ebay if no interest.

Cheers for the help :)

Mine felt better and less stiffer once the helper was removed, the fks blues ain't that bad for budget coilovers. I had fk rears as well so the car sat like this
