Back when I first past my driving test, I had a hate for novas, that was until I owned one! I had a 1.2 that ended up with a nova gsi engine plonked in it, resprayed and gsi bits bolted on, whilst driving it everyday, doing the work on the road out side my house and with a tiny budget, out of my tiny wages. She was a dog, but I defo loved this car

Thankfully, I have a bigger budget, more refined taste, a garage and most important, still got a love for novas




so whilst always wanting to get a project underway, never actually putting my money where my mouth is and getting stuck in, I came across this beauty, dry stored in a backstreet garage for big part of 10 years, lots of dents from where the guy has been using it as a cupboard, but absolutely no rot in it at all, still got the original tyres on it.

First had to go shopping for a doner car, bought a corsa sport, £350, took all I needed and scraped the rest so all in all engines and other bits only cost me £150 which I was very happy with

it looks a lot more yellower than I thought it wood, but I spouse that all Jamaica yellow novas that I've ever seen are 20 odd years old and very faded

I remember the username as ive been on here for so long lol..
Nice project, the paint might look different for a few reasons, 1) use of the correct colour primer, 2) genuine Jamaica yellow is a solid colour paint that has NO clear coat on top..
Either way it's still a good looking project :)

Corsa speedo sensor came off the abs so no speedo drive in the gearbox

There is a t reg corsa 1.2 16v in the scrappy round the corner from me... £60 with a 3 pin plug fitted, prob a f13, wood this work?

No don't think so the the houseing will be to small I think plus it's a little under rated for what got there I may be wrong but a little 2 cylinder gona be lot less power than your 1.6 and why do it the wrong way at this point tbh?

sticking with drums on the back, just need some wheel cylinders as mine have had it!

Ran some copper fuel lines through, had this pipe knocking around, left over from a job so thought it wood be perfect, it's 8 mm pipe, anyone no if that's big enough?

Have you gone for the nova sri bottom pulley? As ive heard running the multi v alternator belt causes it to foul on the OS chassis leg?. Sorry if ive missed it, Not read whole thread

Its running multi v iirc looks like it in photo but don't think they rub anyway tbh

I havent quite got got the gear box mount on properly yet as I've lost the bolts, so hard to say weather it will rub at the mo, however, it will be tight, I don't think id be able to change the belt whilst it's in the car!

my spoiler didnt didn't have any studs on it, my boot doesn't have any holes either!

trying to bond it on with tiger seal, I'll leave it 24 hours before testing it, massively worried

secondly,mother alternator is hitting my chassis and massively struggling to get it moved over!

Spoiler will be fine just bonded mate what's up with the ault then?

Only thing you can do is undo all mounts to the body the 2 on the rear box to the floor the pass side through bolt and the 2 nuts that hold the drivers mount up then some how jack the engine over to the passanger side and re tighten all the bolts also you could put some spacers between the rear gearbox mount and the box 5 mm or so and same on drivers mount this will help push things over to pass side

The engine should move over enough, I had a X16 Nova and it cleared nicely.

went to bolt it onto the car, and it doesn't fit! Think the hinges were bent by the old boot!

Finally got round to wiring up the x16 into the nova, used connector blocks so I no I got the wiring correct, going to tidy it all up and solder joints when I'm happy it's all correct

turnt of ok I thought! Just gone self employed and moving into my house so ain't really got loads of money to chuck at the nova so was pretty happy with this cheap little job!

So did you just use the original engine and gearbox mounts with no issues ? And did you just use the corsa loom ? Did you need to fit any ecu or anything ? Loving this car good luck with rest of the build

Used all the corsa engine loom, had to mess around with the alternater brackets and belt, ecu mounted behind glove box, used a corsa gear box as I only had a little nova box, used all nova mounts , nova drive shafts! the end is in sight!

Good on you for taking the plunge on employment mate I'm sure you won't regret it good luck with the house cars looking great will be good to get them side by side at some point

Underneath of the spare wheel well still looks Red, that would bug the hell outta me.
