Hi guys,
Firstly im Ryan, 22, from Milton Keynes.
Been accumulating parts for my nova turbo for over a year now and I can say this site and the members have really helped so far.
Im still a few months off actually building it up as im still getting parts and learning mostly. I lack most of the technical terms used on this site so please bare with me :)
Ive done 4 years college doing engineering, but never really worked on cars, but you got start somewhere so why not the deep end :D
Don't get me wrong I understand the fundamentals and the basics of assembly. But its the little things I don't know due to experience etc...

One thing I need to make clear is this is a car I would never sell for many reasons. Top of the list being Im madly in love with it, its sat on my drive for a year and just looking at it makes me, err smile :edd

Spec:

MINT 89 GTE, Charcoal Grey, Bug hubs, brakes etc..
Spax Suspension
Rose-jointed tie bar brackets and all lowering plates.
Mount and bay are going to be welded soon.
Was an XE half finished when I got it. I felt like a king when it got going. After a few little probs i decided to just scrap and go nuts.

Head:
Ports opened up
Pourous mod, the one with tube in susceptible oil way.
Highly polished XE inlet, LET exhaust, +1mm valves, all DLC coated.
Standard springs
Highly polished GM hydraulic lifters (brand new).
ARP head studs

Block:
Re-bored 87mm
De-stressed
Acid cleaned
Decked
Highly polished crank. Possible DLC coating.
Crank knife-edged, and balanced with flywheel and pulleys...
87mm IASA Pistons, Highly polished gudgeon pins with DLC.
H-Section rods.
VXR Oil pump.
Under piston oil jets.
Titanium Nitride Rings
ARP mains, flywheel and rods

Turbo/intake/Exhaust:
Scorpion exhaust, 2 silencers, 3" I think
Custom downpipe needed. will be made when everything else is done.
OLD but NEW Mvaux 350hp turbo (the Garret one)
Crappy Mvaux Exhaust manifold, all skimmed.
Mvaux external wastegate.
Custom Inlet, Its a bit big :/
V6 Throttle body
Baileys dump valve
VXR(Blue) injectors
High Pressure Fuel rail.

Gearbox:
F28 Rebuilt 6 years ago then stored.
Quaife LSD
Will be cleaned again when LSD is fitted with all available seals.
6 Paddle helix clutch

ECU:
This is where I need some advice, for starters...
Got a mate who has had numerous cars/project and he`s talking me into the AEM EMS4...
I like the idea of potentially one day in the far future being able to play with the mapping etc myself.
I also like the idea of having a notepad with some live recording and displays...
Costs a lot but one day I want more power and when im a bit more nova experienced, 4 wheel drive.
I don't mind paying for it if Its worth it, as mentioned its not something im going to get rid of.

Still need:
New oil cooler and pipework.
New Radiator maybe.
Intercooler and pipework.
And we all know ive missed quite a few things :)

I have all the gaskets etc..

Im going for a black theme in the engine bay. All my bolts, jubilee clips, rocker/exhaust covers are all polished and Titanium coated for a mirror gold finish :)
Thinking Satin engine bay, matt block, and gloss rocker cover.

I have nearly all of the parts listed just the odd little bits
When I acutally grow some balls and my wallets a bit heavier im going to start building, and of course an extensive step by step build thread will come with it. Im going to be posting lots of pics needing advice as I often tend to over think things and sometimes miss the obvious :D

Just hope you guys have got the patience to help a complete newb :thumb:

Cheers guys!

Everything is all over the place atm, Sheds full, conservatory full, all head components still at work waiting for DLC... Most of the engine is in my living room/workshop :D
Will find the thread advertising the car, that's got some decent pics. When I sort everything out will get some pics of all the components.
Still trying to get over the fear of building this myself and taking it to get the ecu fitted/mapped.

Its not quite as clean anymore sad to say, but that easily changed. Also the day I got it my mates dad left his hand brake off and hit the bak.... PISSED. bumpers got a crack and the panel was pushed in a bit. Got the panel pulled back out and cant notice it when the bumpers on...

Where did you get that crank from? It looks like the one we rejected when building my engine....

Some guy near oxford, He had the block, head and crank worked and then it all sat in his garage for 6+ years, still had all labels and markings from machine shop. It was all a bit dusty when I got it. Got all that, mvaux turbo kit, pistons, rods, f28, clutch and a lot more for 1200 quid so I cant moan.
Why did you reject it? I can have a look when I get to work

It had a hefty mark on one of the journals. Agreed though it sounds like a different crank. The guy who had it off me wanted it for a mock engine.
