Well my old sealey jack is now coming to the end of its life with me, its leaking and doesn't want to hold a weight and slowly goes down.

I'm looking for a sturdy replacement that can hold a decent weight, Meriva's aren't light!

So I have found the following - any thoughts :-

Quite liked this one, low at the front and a lift height of 535mm and a 3 tonne capacity...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-Ton-Low-Profile-Garage-Trolley-Jack-/181172807071?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item2a2ebda59f

£131

Next is an aluminium jobbie, not as high a lift at 460mm , 2.5 tonne , but a bit lighter to wheel around...

£122

And a similar Sealey one ..

£118

And then possibly this one ...

£144

My current one looks like this this but a bit more battered!

My mate has the 118 one and I can rate that as a decent jack, I always rock full ally ones though as it makes private work easier as it gets carried around a lot

Arcan.

Had mine for around six years and it has had an awful lot of use. I recently stripped it and re-locktited the fasteners, as it was getting a bit loose.

I paid over £300 for it, iirc. I know loads of people with the same jack, now and they all swear by it.

Take a look in the pit lane at anything bar the most professional events and you will spot them.

The Arcan alloy one is the best value. Get it from Costco, they are about £110 from there. There is a Costco in Sheffield and Leeds

first one is a great jack and sold in Costco. its strong and has a lip on either side to store wheel sockets/nuts. anything designed with grease nipples are high up on my list of things which give me a lob.

the alloy ones look like they would get better MPG but i have never used them. but im sure most are better than the one you have.

This is a nice jack super low also so with good height also do not know the size but I've used this one was impressed

I've still got my Snapon one From years and it's still going strong
costco ones are also good few commercial garages local to me use them all the time

I know a lad with the steel Arcan, in the first link. It is a good jack, but heavy as you would expect and has a slow lift.
It was only about £70 at Costco.

I have this one, well the re-stickered Machine Mart one.
Bloody fantastic jack, nice and low, fast to lift, very strong, easy to lower (not on/off lol) light enough you can still carry it.

I'd buy it again and again.

Brilliantly - no issues whatsoever - its helped out with removing my M32 gearbox - twice - plus MOT work on my Astra and Meriva and general jacking duties.

Its a bit scuffed where the gearbox was sat on it but apart from that all is well
