I'm having issues which a few have had where my n/s wheel is fouling my gearbox on full lock. I'm nearly convinced before it goes in for respray that I'm going to fit composite wider wings and space the wheels 5-10mm or so. Is this in people's opinions a good idea? And also should it improve handling or mess it up widening the front wheel base? Cheers

There is a mod you can do to avoid this but the compromise would be a little bit less lock

Not too bothered about lock mate, does it involve removing the rack? I'm a simple man and that scares me lol
If the simple fix is fitting steering rack stops to reduce the steering then I'd rather have it hit the inner arch every so often than sacrifice lock for the sake of it
5mm spacers should be OK for standard wings (maybe pulled a bit) I'm sure you'd need to go far larger to fill wide wings.

Might test fit some 5mm ones and 45 profile tyres and see how it sits then. I don't really want to do any fixes to the rack tbh.

Would fitting et45 wheels have a similar effect as a 4-5mm spacer?
Yeah same as a 4mm spacer assuming your current rims are ET49

Yeah I'm on Cav slabs which I wanted to replace anyhow, I think it'd be better to run a wider offset then spacers.
