Not sure which forum to put this question in:
Does anyone know the differences in body shell between non-sunroof and sunroof? I know one has a hole in and the other doesn't, what I mean is do the sunroof shells have extra strengthening elsewhere in the body? Do they weigh more? Are water drains just a plastic pipe running down the A pillar or something more substantial?

Been offered a shell for motorsport and it's had a sunroof at some point, welded up now.
Course if it was a retro-fit in true 80's style then it was just a hole cut in the roof in the first place and nothring to worry about!

Thanks

A factory sunroof skin doesn't have the bracing that goes across the middle. The non sunroof has it, but alot of people that cage shells will remove this as the main hoop sits right on it, so you can remove as the hoop will replace it for strength.
Yes the drains are just plastic tubes.

So weight wise it should be the same really.

Interesting - in fact should be lighter without that middle bracing! Never spotted that before, thanks :D
