I wouldn't buy a new car just because of a tiny problem like that!!

Yeh i kno, was kinda exagerating but i can't really have a car with no petrol gauge. i guess if i can't fix it i'll hav to pay a profecianal to do it but will cost alot and i'm saving for mods so will be a pain.

Tyr removing the clocks and put a new fuse in to rule them out.

when you say clocks, do u mean the petrol gauges and temp or the tim clock? becaue i have eleminated it down to one of those. i'l try taking them out and see if i can eliminate further but i've run out of fuses so i need to pop down halfords.

Sounds to me like you've got some short-circuit somewhere in there mate. Pull out your head-unit and check any wires involving ground esp. You might have sqeezed isolation off or something when inserting the HU...

it blows when the key is in position 2 which is when the dash lights come on and gauges ingauge. what does squeezing isolation off mean?

If it's blowing the fuse which also does the ciggy lighter (and possibly the interior light), i'm sure it's something to do with the head unit. When i'd just bought my SRI there were bare wires for the head unit flappin around in the cage. They shorted out and my Rev gauge, All dash lights and fuel gauge went off. Had to insulate the wires and replace the fuse and then it was fine.
