Hi. I have a breeze blue SRi which is nice and straight and solid, it wouldn't take much to make it mint, its because of this I find myself reluctant to build the LET I want. SRi Novas are few and far between.

If I had the room I would just buy any old 3 door and build that up, but I don't. I am thinking I could sell and get an unfinished LET project, or rolling shell that is ready for a conversion.......

What you reckon?

Just do it. You say it won't take much to make mint. Not many no as like that about now mate an in my let I'd like to know its solid shell.

It does make sense so I will carry on with it, was prob trying to justify having two Novas lol

Will try and find space, got a large chunk of bits so far, but don't know which gearbox is best, want accelaration but also some sort of economy at 80mph.

Nick - will let you know once I start conversion mate

Meritlover - don't know you so don't know if malice involved, pretty boring either way

I think an original mk2 breeze blue un modded well not xe let mod will be worth more than a weapon of shell destruction in the future but each to his own plus mk1 s are better for chopping up anyway as people say there better shells lol

You can have just as much fun in a Sri as you can in a LET

One word, understeer

I wouldn't ruin a nice standard SRI, decent suspension, brakes and you'll have just as good Nova without the 2 ton engine dropped in the front

Let all the way for me! Nothing more fun than watching scooby, evo, m3 etc etc owners faces drop when they have their foot buried and have a nova fly past them. Makes me grin so hard not even surgeons could remove the ssmile lmao.

Love the sound of my let nothing like turbo burble lol.

I find the gentle 'thrum' of a standard SRI far more erotic than the brash tones of a LET. The beautiful balance of refinement and front end weight distribution along with the SRIs willingness to rev happily leaves a smile far out reaching that left by a heavy LET.

dont let a SRI

Thats what the 1.0 and 1.2s were made for

its only a mk2

Better than a mk1.

Letting a Nova isnt hard and if you then change your mind, take it out, sell it and put a nice 1.4 16V lump in for a more Factory feel.

This. lol

Depends what you want really, a LET could still handle well, obviously it won't be as nimble as a 1.4 could be. But you'd make up for that by going up the speedo a lot faster. Values of untouched standard cars in good condition is going up though...

Guess it comes down to what you wanna use the car for. A sri may handle slightly better but a well converted let is still gonna be quicker round 99% of tracks plus how often are you on a track or pushing the limits of grip on a road?

I know everyoe has different opinions but for me the effotless power of been able to stick your boot down in any gear and fly is alot better than having to smash it down a load of cogs screaming the tits off the engine and still only pottering along, but hey thats just me.

Convinced the wife that her car can live outside for a while haha got my eye on some rolling shells - is there truth behind the mk1 being stronger?

I will keep the SRi and try and get it back to standard and tidy it up properly

I know of some talk about the early mk1 shells having thicker metal, but if your running a let I think stich welding it and plating the engine bay will do more good then souring a million year old shell in some vain hope its stronger

dgbnova#1
18-02-14, 08:21 PM
There is some truth in better metal in early production it's the look of the draw realy
gte Gsi Sri shells are stronger by design also diesel shells but will need drivers side mount adding to that but these also add cost as there more desired

A decent late shell can be ten times stronger than a rotten old shell. Its a stupid argument.
