if I bought a car that was registered as a 1400, and not changing the CC at all, but accidently sellotape and bubble gum 8 'decorative' valves somewhere under the bonnet... would that be politically acceptable in all 51 states ? or would I be sent straight to the gallows for my incompetance lol

Lol think you will need to tell them its had a 1.4 16v fitted as its not worth the hassle if you have a crash

Even if they weren't bothered about the extra valves rolling around in the engine bay somewhere, they would be interested about where the extra few horses had appeared from lol

Undeclared modifications = null and void

i bet 90% of the people on here are probably void

Just cos you're too tight and/or stupid to cough up to insure the mods you're doing doesn't mean everyone else is

The only void here is between your ears.

Proud to say every single mod on mine is legal and covered. Have always done them all. Rather paid a tiny bit more than get raped if there's a prob.

Thank you lol.

But all in all, it wouldn't affect you that much to just declare them 16v lump.

i guess i was paranoid that they'd slap a Ferrari price on me, as everyone ive come across thats messed about with cars hasn't mentioned anything to them, so ive not had any hints or testimonials back to work from. i will enquire about it in future tho, its probably not as bad as im thinking

Prob is its these people that push the prices right up when they have a crash/claim.

the other year, when some fool in a vtec smashed into my touran, the claim manager from his insurer came to see me to fill in the forms. she was from a company that specialised in young drivers.. she then started telling me about the mountain of shyte she had to shift every time a car with undeclared mods crashed.. it is an epidemic of gigantic proportions.

one car had crashed, putting all the occupants in hospital for long term care, and they were hard pressed to find a standard component in the running gear.. the lawyers were circling overhead, and she was expecting a high 6 figure cost to sort everything out. from a policy of under a grand, means a lot of policies will need to go up in price to claw that back

£180 for a nova with xe, suspension, brakes, roll bar, alloys and so on, Adrian Flux gave nop extra charge when I changed the wheel size half way throught the policy.

Best off making vague on the mods form IMO. No mention of wheel sizes, brands etc
