As per title, running a 1.3 on weber dcoes, what if any pressure reg are you using? The filter kings with a pressure dial look good, but are they worth the money? :)

I've got a filter king on mine, can't say I've tried anything else to compare, but it seems to do the job and most people with t40s use them.

Nice one Paul, have you got the one with the built in pressure gauge? if not how is the pressure set?

Are you running an electric pump John? Mine runs a Filter King fuel filter but no reg with the standard manual pump and it is fine.

3psi I believe

Still running the mech pump Rich. just want to run a reg as well to set to 3 psi like Luke says. Some of the filter kings are reg with gaugeand filter, might just go for one of these.

The mech pump will put out 7psi which will over pressure the carbs.

the mech pump is also fine upto 150bhp and 7800rpm lol

Cheers Stu, i'll definitely get a pressure reg then.

Surley the extra fuel just returns to the tank?

So in effect excess fuel pressure is irrelevant as the float only opens and takes the fuel it needs? Unlike an injection system that requires a constant pressure?

( fcuking hate carbs but now need to learn )

My carbs seem to cope OK with the pressure the standard pump puts out. It has a fuel return with a restrictor in it too.

No Fuel return on 40's or Bike carbs.

I don't connect up the return line to the tank on mine

No Fuel return on 40's or Bike carbs.

There is on a nova sport.

Edit, what I cant figure out is why have a fpr if you have no return?
On my gsi the FPR is on the return line after the injectors to keep 2.5bar in the fuel rail
If it was fitted before the injectors there would be an unstable pressure in the fuel rail
So how does this work for carbs?

Pump - fpr - carbs. So you only have 3psi coming out of the regulator

Fuel injection works differently

So im learning,

But reducing the pressure and blocking the return off just doesn't seem right to me lol

Might throw the carbs to fcuk and fit bodies.

Carbs need sod all pressure but lots of flow. Too much pressure and when the floats shut the fuel off they can't hold much pressure back without leaking etc.

Surley thats what the leak off return is for though?

Depends if you like that method lol

A restricted return has worked fine for long enough on mine and countless other cars before and after FPR's were around. The standard Pierburg coped fine on the standard mechanical pump pressure as well.

I had a filter king with gauge on my 48s was great never went wrong
