View Full Version : c16se with 1.2 spi flywheel starter motor issues
guys put a flat 1.2 spi c12nz flywheel clutch and f13 on my c16se engine, and now it will not even turn over, do I need to use the 1.2 spi c12nz starter motor as well, as I read these are slightly smaller than the original potted c16se flywheel I removed? or have I just completely shot myself in the foot and it wont work?

No it won't work the block on the 16 is bigger so the starter is to far from the wheel someone posted a photo of this just the other day

Best get a bandage for that foot mate ! lol
fooooooooooooook saaaaakkkkeeeeeee .
wish I asked earlier. so this is clearly why my engine is not sparking / turning over at all, brilliant been given the complete wrong advice now it has to come back out .. again :(
what flat flywheel do I need? do mk4 astra 8v's use a flat or potted flywheel for ease of going to a breakers yard? or does it need to be a nova gte flywheel and clutch plate/cover.
im setting the record here this will be the 4th time the engine and box will have to come out.... shotgun at the ready lol

You need a flat wheel off an e16 Possibly 1.4 Sri and 1.4 nz I think are the same

Just take out the box leave the engine in
nope 1.4 sri uses a 190mm clutch so I have read not trusting that lead of 'use a spi 8v one mate yeah it will work' well it bloody wont lol , going to cry myself to sleep. need it to work on a f13 box with removeable clutch cover/plate access thingy, so an e16se one is needed then I gueesss
and yeah original c16 starter still on it, will have to remove the box in situ then pain in the ass taking box and engine out all the time .. best remove arb thing that's in the way as well.

will this be the right one? or still hold out for an e16se one?

I don't know for certain sorry not gona say yes then you need to do it all again
there are some part numbers in the stickys I think have a mooch through there
cheers pal, did think it was odd being it started before I removed old flywheel, what a flop. so guys and girls don't do this , if you do the engine will not even crank/barely turn over just like mine is doing lol. might have sorted a c16se flat flywheel so that should be back to normal and running my f13.
