If I still had TBO I'd happily offer it up for them to let the stig set a time round the track in. Knowing them it would swiftly be ended with a piano from 100ft after. They will never give the nova any kind of respect, but at least it won no point getting our knickers in a twist. Looking forward to what happens next lol

Conza you may as well leave your car unlocked - the nova is like a seive when it comes to breaking in to one! Although most modern criminals are defeated by its simplicity and vauxhalls 80's/90's security stupidity.
Theres the half tennis ball trick, the screwdriver, the blue packing tape through the door rubber and over the door lock button, the hazard switch, the boot lock trick and many others! On my old nova you could probably kick the rear arch and climb through the hole left by the rust!

I used to melt the middle pin/hole with a soldering iron so the switch wouldn't go in upside down !! Those were the days :)

My wiring was standard until 7 Years ago when my mate at college showed me the hazard trick I couldn't believe it lol

Had to remove my mates Astra 2 from a multi story car park once as he lost his keys 2 mins and it was driving and just needed new locks and ignition no damage a the good old days

Ah it was a laugh and they didn't slate the Nova that much, until Hammond chose the wrong gear it faired better than the others. I almost felt sorry for fiesta owners.....but then I didn't lol
They probably chose a really rough one as there is no point in paying all the money for a mint one and wrecking it, besides it is just a laugh.

You can bet that they probably chose a whole host of other cars before the ones they used, imagine the stuff that just cant be sourced for anywhere near sensible money. 16v's, GTi's & turbos etc.
But credit where it's due, that little 1400 was quickest on the hillclimb & looked like it was going to cream that 5hitbox Fiesta in the dragrace too.

My brother had a late J plate 1.4spi nova and the hazard didn't work on that. I thought Vauxhall had modded the loom or rectified it on from late J's onwards. I was surprised it worked on TG's K plate...

Thats what I thought. Never worked on my old J reg merit, and that was an early J (22/08/91).

1, they are old so are easy to get in too.
B, there are hardly any on the road now.
3, who the funk would steal one now... I guess it's cause they are easy, but wouldn't make anymore.

Works on all of them, you need to have the switch in the 'on' position, otherwise it doesnt work, had load of peeps tell me it didnt work on theirs as they were turning the switch 'off' as they pushed it back into the slot.
Only for me to come along, put it into the 'on' position and watch their faces sink as the dash lights up lol
And the eagle eyed ones will have spotted that it didnt have a passenger window winder, because its an SRi and has had the drivers door replaced with a manual window door, electric window still in place on the passsenger side, and manual keep fit window on the drivers side :p

Technically the Golf was the last car standing, as to me that looked like a mk4 they blew up.

benn, I spent several months in a frantic game of cat & mouse with a group of towrags back in the mid 90's trying to keep possession of my A reg beige hatch.. I won, but we even had to have the police do regular drive-bys... I really wouldn't want to do it again

Just saw this episode, it was hardly a fair race using a golf gti, a fiesta xr2i but only a nova sri, should have been a gsi to make the race fair but the nova still won the hillclimb and was going past the 1.6 16v fiesta before Hammond wrecked it. I remember being given a lift in a SRi once and couldn't believe how quick it was for a 1.4 8v. Did these come with the F13cr gearboxes like on the GTE's/GSi's?

I had an epic dildo of a thief trying to nick my Nova even though there was an alarmed car in front of it blocking the drive a few months back.
To be fair, a Nova would actually be a pretty good choice of car to nick. Most are dead easy to get into, dead easy to hot wire and 90% of them have XEs so will have at least a weeny bit of poke for a few minutes of wheelspinning through various gardens. Or breaking and gumtree'ing!

i loved watching the episode, I revived a bit of my youth with Hammonds expressions of getting excited about these loveable rot boxes, glad the car stayed in one piece... I wonder if they'll sell me it lol
no novas tonight but series to date which started well has been one of the best series.
