engine problem

Can everyone tel me wots rong with my nova 1.2 carb engine why all of a sudden it cut out un is all spluttery like it low on fuel witch it not and the fuel gauge went to nowt and put on headlights and it splutters and dies but it downt do it all all the time it dont use water un oil so not sure eney one help

Ok few things to check

fuel leak hence no fuel as it's all on the floor and not in the engine
check all earths there is one to the body down rh side of gear box one from alternator to the head and depending on year one from the battery to the starter bolt
Also one from battery to the fire wall it's about 8" long check all are connected and not corroded it's worth undoing and cleaning anyway


failing that look at the fuel pump
