SRi and GSi/GTE compatibility

Hi everyone. I am wondering if the 1.6i engine will drop straight into a 1.4SRi Nova? I imagine the brakes and drive train is the same?

if you got the full e16 setup and the main engine loom plug swoops straight over then no
exhaust will fit from the 1.4 you got pump and fuel lines even the 1.4 gear would fit if you wanted

Ta. I have a four branch manifold already on my SRi, exhaust is not a real problem, think I have a gte system in shed. To use SRi gearbox would the 1.6 clutch fit and is bell housing the same?

The 1.6 is the same as the late 1.4 so should be the same plus lower gearing so a little better acceleration
