just tested it and 1 pixel in the rev counter has gone, not the end of the world but annoying, is there anyway to fix it or is a case of put up or get a new one

Unless you can find a new lcd board (VERY unlikely) then get a new set

It's not the board it's a connection problem between the board and the LCD plate, they run this weird rubberised plate material that conducts electrical signals between the two. The early carlton dashes suffered a lot with this, if you're really lucky taking it all apart, cleaning the plates up and putting it all back fixes it. But more than likely a replacement dash is the only real way.
