16v mpi to carb wiring

I was viewing this diagram for the re-wiring process, and wondering if theres any differences for fitting to a carbed vehicle instead of spi ?

is the vss transducer thingy necessary to have for a carb conversion ?

I used this exact diagram for fitting into my carbed nova and yes the vss is needed otherwise it will cut out every time you come to a stop
